196The people that once called this island home worshipped the Island Master as if they were a diety. It's not unreasonable to believe a people would do that considering the tremendous magical power that the Island Master has. They built the pyramid the party now live in likely out of reverence, but their loyalty was ultimately betrayed. We're not sure why the Island Master betrayed their worshippers, but their final fate is a sad one, undead shambling lifelessly about the wonder they had built.
We know of at least one power gem within this pyramid, but the structure serves a great purpose than containing that. You wouldn't think it upon entering, but the pyramid is the only way to access another location, one much smaller but no less important in our quest to esacpe the island. It's also an area that no-one can truly be prepared for their first time playing the game.
