Let's Play Menzoberranzan #25: Seeking the Myconids
The party literally crashed into these caverns from the temple above, meaning we're once again past a point of no return. I'm really not a fan of how many times this has been done already, preventing you from going back and retrieving items you've left behind hoping to use them at a later date. All it would take is for one plot significant item to be left like that for you to soft lock yourself and while the game goes to great lengths to ensure you're told something is improtant, all it takes is one mistake to ruin things.
That aside, we need to make our way deeper into this cave system so we can find those who call it home, the myconids. The mushrooms we've fought so far aren't the same as the sentient fungi who doubtless want us gone from their realm as soon as possible. I'm sure the party want nothing more than to venture deeper in pursuit of the captured villagers, but the leader of the myconids might know something about the drow and it can't hurt to at least TRY and extend a hand of friendship to them.
