Let's Play Morrowind Max Difficulty - No Mic | Part 29: Master Enchanter & Introduction to Mournhold
The Let’s Play Continues!
We’re ready for the Late Game. Almost…
One more thing before we head off: Given that we’ve decided upon using an ‘Inferno Staff’, it might be useful to bolster our Enchant skill in order to conserve item charge. Which means, off to the Master Enchant Trainer!
Qorwynn has the distinct honour of being the only Master Trainer in the game, to be hostile with the player. As such, the only way to purchase training from them, is to Calm them down first. To ensure that Qorwynn ‘remains calm permanently’, we also make use of another mechanic that’s barely used: Intimidate.
Intimidate is a level/speechcraft check that makes a person ‘really like you’ but only for 1 conversation, but crucially, also reduces their Fight Value permanently. A few intimidations later, and Qorwynn has taken an extreme disliking to us, but no longer attacks us on sight. A few bribery payments & skill transfer later, and our Grandma is officially a ‘Master Item Charge Conservationist’, and we set off to Mournhold to begin our Tribunal quest.
Mournhold is a self-contained large city, with several sectors and an elaborate sewer system (which function as ‘extensive dungeons’ for the expansion content). The environments are nothing much to write home about, and our initial foes (the Dark Brotherhood) aren’t either, swiftly succumbing to a swipe or two of our silly staff (75% Resistance to Fire, pfff).
With the Dark Brotherhood out of the way, we’ll visit Almalexia and her ilk next, and try and find out more about the strange city.
The Let's Play is intended to support a Morrowind Magic System guide that I wrote on Steam.
