238In the 3.5 ruleset of pen and paper D&D using metal armour as a druid is a bad idea. You are prevented from using druid spells or supernatural and spell-like class abilities while doing so and for 24 hours afterwards, making the character a sub-par fighter for the duration.
Strangely, this restriction is not in place in Neverwinter Nights, replaced instead with a curious restriction on the choice of weapons they can use. Since the scimitar is one of the weapons the druid is allowed to use (and the spear if you're fighting two handed) the relatively insignificant weapon trade doesn't make up for the fact that you can wear extremely potent armour at low levels if you're prepared to save up a little gold. The end result is that Sar'ken is quickly going to turn into a melee powerhouse.
Soon we'll be getting an ability that will change our tactics significantly.
