Let's Play New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Part 1: Worst Birthday Ever
It's time for another new series. I didn't start this one as early as I would have liked because of family stuff and having a persistent cold, but here it is. This time around, the kidnapping method of choice for Peach is dropping a cake on her, which seems different for about 10 seconds until the standard Mario plot kicks in. Unlike in the DS game, we have to deal with the Koopalings, back in a Super Mario Bros. game for the first time since Super Mario World (though they did show up briefly in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga). We also have some new mechanics and powerups to play with, though sadly, most of them involve the Wii motion controls.
1-1: A basic starting grassland level. It introduces some of the new things that weren't in the DS version, including rotating landforms and the new propeller suit powerup.
1-2: A basic starting underground level, with another couple of new platform types and the laziest music choice possible short of using no music at all.
1-3: The first Yoshi level. In this game, Yoshi can basically do everything he can in Super Mario World except lick through walls (so he couldn't get the key in Valley of Bowser 4), but he can hover in addition.
1-Tower: It has a lot of swinging platforms, and the boss is Larry, whom I misidentified as Lemmy (I seem to get those two mixed up a lot).
