Let’s Play Okamiden - Episode 34: The Coolest Dungeon Around
After upgrading our glaive to its full power, we head off to the Moon Cave, only to discover that some yandere imp plans on cooking Manpuku’s mom to ensure that there’s one less rival for Orochi’s spot of top chef. As such, we follow the chef and her cronies to the Ice Room, Orochi’s personal refrigerator and the game’s final dungeon, which keeps the tradition of an ice-themed area being the final dungeon in the “Okami” series alive and well.
Though while Wawku Shrine had its fair share of ice, the Ice Cave takes it a step further by making practically everything ice-related- the walls, the floors, icicles on the floor that only Manpuku can cross, etc. Fortunately for us, this dungeon won’t be too bad on account of how Manpuku’s fiery-red hair actually counts as a source of fire, allowing us to melt ice and singe foes whenever we want without having to spend a bunch of ink on Fireburst.
On a different subject, to probably no one’s surprise, we encounter yet another plot hole: the barrier to the Moon Cave is active when Chibi and Manpuku arrive. Now, you could possibly argue that this is because the barrier reactivated after Ammy rushed into the Moon Cave to reenact the Legend of Nagi. However, since Nagi’s in Kamiki Village when we arrive in this time period and Ammy didn’t encounter Manpuku on her way to the Moon Cave, it can be concluded that Chibi arrived here first. So by that logic, the barrier should have been down when Chibi arrived, not Ammy. Thankfully, there’s a light at the end of the plot hole tunnel- just a few left.
