Snowy Gyre Mountain - Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy/ Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams Mashup
For me, I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for snowy levels in video games that take place high-up in the mountains. There’s just something so empowering about knowing that your adventure has taken you up to one of, if not the, highest points of the world- especially when you can see the level from other levels in the game, like with Gyre Mountain. As such, when I enter these levels, I can’t help but take a moment to stop and stare into the horizon as I think about everything that we went through- the places we’ve been to, the people and enemies that we’ve encountered, and how our abilities have grown over the course of the adventure as the typically calming music that plays in these kinds of areas plays in the background. Heck, even after countless playthroughs, to this day, whenever I’m going through Snowy Mountain in “Jak and Daxter”, I always take time to stop and stare at the Forbidden Temple that I cleared way back at the start of the game, as well as the eco silo that the final boss is on, picturing what the fight would look like to someone standing where I currently am who’s watching from a distance.
