Let's Play Quake Remastered #02: Hit the Ground Dodging
The Quake remaster is chock full of quality of life additions, first and foremost being its compatibility with modern systems and the graphical improvements. Everything is cleaner, sharper and scaled to modern resolutions while still keeping the feel that it had before. While there was certainly an appeal to the muddy and bitty look the original 90s version possessed, a 1920x1080 screen will do it a disservice. Add to that the additional episodes of content and all the extra options thrown in and you've got a game ready for a new generation of players.
As for the gameplay itself, I'm happy to say that it doesn't feel any different from how it was in the past. Quake has always been a faster game than Doom; it being fully 3D means that attacks truly can come from any direction and the enemies move and react far faster, forcing you to be just as quick. Even the first episode can catch you off-guard if you're not careful, doubly so on the difficulty I'm playing on.
