Welcome back to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, the fifth instalment in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise. The game features Sam Fisher as he is on the run from the NSA after being blamed for the murder of his former boss and friend, Irving Lambert, in Double Agent. Sam is whiling away his time in Malta when Grim manages to get in contact with him and informs him of a threat to his life, which leads him to information about Sarah and her disappearance, opening up a long-buried can of worms. The gameplay for this iteration has been changed to a simplified binary light and shadow mechanic, and sound no longer plays a large role. Furthermore, the focus has shifted to sneaking and neutralising targets instead of slipping in and out undetected like it was in the previous iterations, causing a divide among the fans.

Waking up strapped to a gruney, Sam sees Tom Reed, the new director of NSA's Third Echelon programme, instructing Grim to interrogate information out of him using any means necessary. Resigning himself to the hands of his torturers, Sam finds himself relieved when Grim shoots the man about to inject him and sets him free.

She then informs him of Reed's involvement with a PMC named Black Arrow and how they've been stonewalling President Caldwell's investigation into the PMC. She asks Sam for his help in the matter, stating that she cannot afford to have her cover blown.

Sam, however, is reluctant to give any more to his country that branded him a traitor for all his sacrifices and turned him into a fugitive. Left with no other choice, Anna uses her only trump card to lure Sam back into the game: Sarah. She told Sam that Sarah is still alive and she knows exactly where she is. The information, of course, will be provided to him should he do exactly what is asked of him.

She asks Sam to hit her, which he does gladly, before sending him on his way with her gun and her car keys to steal some C4 for the strategic sabotage of various facilities within the airfield.

The first is a helicopter that can track him down from the sky. It's right next to the holding cell, so Sam has an easy time planting the C4 onto the chopper before moving on.

The next target is the electrical grid for the facility, wherein Sam needs to use some C4 to get rid of the facility's generators.

The final target is the satellite dish that will enable aerial reconnaissance and communications in the objective of recapturing Sam. It's placed among the Hangars, and by this point, all people on the base have been alerted to Sam's escape from confinement. While Sam successfully planted the C4 onto the dish, moving on from the area presented a challenge as he bumped right into a patrol looking for him.

The final step was to make his escape and as one final measure to prevent pursuit, he raised the bollards protecting the base before hiding behind Grim's car and effectively crippling the entire base.

Here is how Sam escaped Price Airfield:
