Let's Play Spec Ops: The Line | Chapter 11: Adams | Protecting Adams | Saving Lugo
Welcome back to Spec Ops: The Line, a soft reboot of the Spec Ops franchise that changes up the formula, turning a series that was originally meant to be a tactical shooter into a narrative masterpiece. While the game still has remnants of its Tactical Shooter roots, the gameplay focuses far more on the story of Captain Martin Walker, who enters a war-torn Dubai in order to rescue a man he admires, John Konrad, after an evacuation mission involving the 33rd Infantry goes awry. What they find waiting for them in Dubai sets the stage for an explorative and less-mentioned side of warfare that is seldom seen or talked about.
Having flown into a sandstorm and crashed the helicopter, all members of Delta are now separated. Walker awakes, blaming himself for all his decisions and coming face to face with a grim reality.
That is when he comes in contact with Adams who asks him for his help in fending off an attacking host. Walker approaches the attackers from the 33rd from behind, picking them up and sandwiching them between two formidable Delta Forces.
Adams gets shot, but Walker covers him while he retreats to safety and patches himself up. A while later, they establish contact with Lugo who has a broken arm, but is all fine apart from that.
Regardless, they must rush to his rescue as well.
They move onward when their location is ambushed by a host of operatives from the 33rd while Adams blames Walker for the mess they're in. A Sandstorm hits their location and they use the cover of sand to manoeuvre to more advantageous positions. At the same time, Lugo is told to save himself in the refugee camp just north to his position.
When the offending host is taken care of, they hear Lugo being attacked over the radio and rush into the refugee camp to save him.
Infiltrating the alleys as quickly as they can, they find an angry mob lynching Lugo. They shoot the rope around his neck and let him fall to the ground. Walker tries to resuscitate Lugo, but he is already gone.
In the meantime, the mob begins surrounding their new guests and threatening to entreat them to the same fate. They won't part and continue boxing them in. It is at this point when Walker lets his rifle butt fly in one of the locals' face and Adams fires in the air, sending them scrambling. They finally find an exit out of the place.
