Let's Play: Strangeland - Part 2 - The Finale
Welcome to part 2 and the finale of my playthrough of Strangeland!
Content warning: suicide, self harm, (some) body horror, depression.
Well things sure did get weirder, and grosser, and sadder. I'm not shocked, but like, it goes places.
I really enjoyed this game. Strangeland does a lot of things very well, from its symbology, to it's writing, to the music choices. There is a lot going on in Strangeland beyond what's simply presented to you. It's a game about depression and delusion; about moving on and getting stuck; about trying to stab your shadow with a glowing knife and (obviously) failing. It's a game about processing trauma, really, and it does it in a thoughtful, if sorta visually gross way.
I don't usually play games with the commentary on because who has time for that. But this game? I'm going to make time for it. There's a lot here, and I want to understand it all.
