Welcome to part one of our co-op playthrough of KeyWe!
What if you were a small flightless bird and you needed a job. What if you found that job, but it was with the most buck-wild postal service you could find? And what if you could also give yourself adorable hats to wear whilst you tried to do your job? Welcome to KeyWe!
You play as a Kiwi bird in a remote town (presumably) in New Zealand. You and your partner are tasked with trying to get the mail to where it needs to go. Sadly the entire system of moving packages around and sending telegrams was invented by an absolute madman. It's all about communication, optimization, and not getting eaten by plants.
The mechanics are introduced to you level by level, and then remixed as things move along. It's actually very refreshing. The game does a good job of building up your understanding of things as it layers on the complexity. It also doesn't go too far in the other direction, and trims off some features as it moves along, so that you're not having to do everything all the time. Each level is pretty short, making it a great hop in/out style game, and there's also customization options for your bird and of course collectables.
We did a perfectly adequate job of running the post office, which exceeded our expectations for ourselves.
