If there's one person you want to not get on the bad side of, it's Mordea. The tempest and ruler of Tenebrae, she holds onto power by constantly asserting it and disposing of those who she deems as problematic to her continued rule. The list of people who have been executed just recently is long it's safe to say that Salkind is willing to fabricate charges to ensure that troublesome people go away permanently by way of the executioner's axe. Speaking your mind will cost you your life if you're not careful and crossing the lady will achieve that in record time.
And then we have the Avatar, a newcomer to the island whose very presence is causing Mordea problems, albiet indirectly at the moment. It's not likely that she knows who took the serpentine dagger from her bedroom - if she even knows that it's gone - but she will know that we've been asking a lot of questions about the island and its people. She may also know that we plan to leave Pagan, though that's less likely. There are events that are going on independent of what we're doing, though we're connected to them by circumstance. One thing I can say is that we're going to have do something before things in Tenebrae get even worse. Distracted as we were by helping the necromancers we couldn't stop some things from happening, but now there's nothing preventing us from taking steps to deal with Mordea.
But I'm that can wait while we explore the countryside to the east and west of the city for goodies and interesting things to see. Since the game appears to be event-driven, I'm sure that the Avatar has an unlimited amount of time to solve things in Tenebrae, so it won't hurt that we continue to look around the are and see the sights. After all, it's not like someone's languishing in prison as we run around looking for cool things to take, right?
