0Turns out that for once, my initial gut decision was putting us on the path to the good ending, because as we learn in this episode, things quickly take a turn for the worst on the “safer” Jump-to-the-Rear-Car-to-Help-Aniki path when the group reaches Tokyo by helicopter, only to discover that sometimes when you raise your hopes up, it only makes the fall when they’re dashed all the more painful- not that it means much since they all die immediately after learning about Tokyo’s fate. That’s right; the group dies on that path- no miracles, no twist events, just the helicopter exploding and the credits.
But on the bright side, this unlocks the ability to replay story events, campsites, and acts, which in turn allows us to pick the Emergency Brake path (the path I originally wanted to choose) in the hopes that it leads to a better outcome than everyone dying in a fiery wreck. And considering that Aniki’s powers awaken, Pielope is repelled, and no one gets kidnapped by a bunch of glorified Roombas, I think that we’re off to a great start.
