0One of the more subtle dangers in games like this is not the obvious enemies right in front of you, but the distant ones taking pot shots at you from relative safety. They may not hit often but every time they do weakens you that little bit more and while they have infinite ammunition, you don't have unlimited healing.
Taking advantage of autoaim is essential to returning fire and one of the best weapons for that is the chaingun using tap fire. Failing that, stick to cover as often as possible to avoid giving them a chance to shoot at you. If you can't do that, your best bet is to keep pushing forward as fast as possible and hope to get a better firing on them later.
