The farewell to the X series bring the series back to 2D platforming, with the occasional 3D walking that remains in 2D if it makes any sense. While X7 showed that the game makers had no clue what they were doing, X8 definitely feels like the opposite for the most part and is a return to form after the last 2 subpar outings.

TOO BAD THE GAME DECIDED THAT MAKING LIVES AN ACTUAL GAME MECHANIC THAT MATTER. This is the biggest strike against the game for sure. If it had the same checkpointing than X5 and X6 had, this game would be amazing. As it is, it's just all right.

Also, fuck Sigma's Palace. Why.
