Let's Try: Book of Hours. Again.
So it turns out when you actually figure out that you can zoom in on your house / rooms, you can get items! Very important items that let your progress the game! Who knew? Not me, that's for danged sure.
I said I really wanted to like Book of Hours, so I took another crack at it with new-found information. Armed with knowledge, I was able to actually start unlocking some book mysteries, opening rooms in Hush House, and even helping someone with a mystery of their own! This game got a lot more intriguing once I actually knew the mechanics. Some bits still mystify me, but I'm not floundering like I was on my first attempt.
I know I'm still doing this game a disservice though, because I am not taking the time to read everything, which is honestly more the point of the game than simply doing the puzzles. If or when I return to this game, I'll be slowing my pace down mightily and taking in what everything actually says. There's clues in those descriptions, and I should be taking them all in.
