Let's Try: Duskers
Note: I was plagued with stream issues for this one, including losing an hour of playtime at the start.
What if you were apparently the only human left, floating in a space ship with very little fuel, and no answers? What if all you had to survive were a couple of drones that you can send into other ships to collect scrap and fuel? And what if those ships weren't devoid of life?
That's Duskers in a nutshell. It's a sci-fi roguelike where you traverse the universe, scraping by by raiding other abandoned ships, outposts, stations, etc looking for: scrap, fuel, and intel; and trying not to get eaten along the way. You have to upgrade your ship and drones, keep them repaired and operating, and navigate them (either by manually piloting or by command line) around the ships. There's baddies and mysteries abound, and it's a very neat game that I'll never play again.
The main reason I won't touch it again is due to one of its core mechanics: the console. I 100% get the appeal of using the console to efficiently zoom your drones around to do the job as fast as possible, but I just don't have the brain for it. It's super neat, but also super not for me. Besides that: the game's really cool. I love the idea, the setting, the visuals. It's all great.
