Have you ever been stranded on a desert island and thought to yourself: "I'm going to rebuild society here, one wooden platform at a time!" Because if so: Havendock might be for you.
The main thrust of the game is straight-forward: gather resources, expand base, research new things to build, welcome new refugees, repeat. It seems simple, but there's a lot of juggling to do until you get enough people to outsource enough of the busy work. The research tree is vast, as is the resource list and number of jobs people can perform. You can set colony and individual priorities for who does what when, but you can always jump in and just do it yourself when needs be. The art work, though a bit unpolished at the moment (let's remember this is still in early access) is cute, and the writing is fine, for what little there is.
My biggest gripes are UI focused, and I'm hoping they'll be massaged with time: The UI is both too busy and to big. Bringing up the menu for any particular station occupies almost 1/4 of the whole screen real-estate, and there's no need for it. The quest log is also a tad maligned and could do with surfacing the various jobs a bit better. There was also the issue with some quests saying one thing (forge 10 bars of steel) but using your active inventory count as the sum, and not the historical amount you've made.
Overall this is a cute little sim that goes both wide and deep, and I'm sure with a couple QoL adjustments, it could be something special.
