Note: I was given a key for this game by the developers, and I am very appreciative of being given the opportunity to try this out!

I'm gonna be honest: there's not a lot of plot currently in Himno - The Silent Melody (not to be confused with Himno, the original iteration of this game). Starting a new game dumps you into a short tutorial, and then you're teleported to your home base: a location that you can apparently upgrade. That is, if you can survive and bring home the goods.

The game is a roguelite in that you do runs into the dungeons (you start in the ruins), collect gems and supplies and then hope you find a teleporter home, or a teleportation potion (which punishes you with an item loss penalty). The Gems you collect can be invested in permanent character upgrades like seeing enemy health bars, added damage to character types, extra rune slots, etc.

The combat and movement is very fluid, though controller support is kind of busted so everything you're seeing in this video is M+KB. It worked pretty well, though not ideal. The visuals, music, etc are wonderful; I totally dig the aesthetic that Himno's bringing.

My biggest gripes are the RNG around finding a way home, the total lost of drops on death, and the lack of explanation for anything. I still have no idea what the generator does. None. Even the wiki didn't give me any answers.

I'm looking forward to playing more of this game in a couple updates to see how it's evolved. I'm very intregued.
