It's the Indie Game Wednesday roundup for Wednesday, August 25th, 2021.

Tunic is a Souls game wrapped in a Zelda veneer. It looks adorable (and great) and the world is a lot of fun to explore, the music is great, and there's a lot to love. It does however, punish you quickly and severely for not fighting well. It is extremely souls-inspired combat that requires you to keep your head on a swivel, and does not let you simply mash the attack key, as I learned. I'm not sure how interested I am in it going forward, but I'm really happy I got a chance to try it out.

Aerannis is a cyberpunk dystopian future metroidvania where there are no men, you are apparently partnered with/sleeping with CL4P-TP, and you do questionable things (murder) for money. There is probably some larger conspiracy thing going on, but I didn't get that far. This game has good bones on it, but the controls are clunky to the point of getting in the way and the inability to look in more than one axis (there's a lot of flying enemies) inflates the difficulty in an unfun way.

Alfal's Grove is an extremely difficult to look at FPS shooter with rogue trappings. you shoot all the things, collect their hearts, and then feed em to trees to get more power ups. Teleport to the next island, rinse and repeat. It's an interesting concept and the combat felt fun, BUT it was at point impossible to see anything. The visuals can get extremely muddy.

The Door is a perspective-based puzzle game where you solve puzzles by looking at things differently. The plot beats are a little hard to follow because you are kind of dumped straight into it, but it seems like you are trying to help a robot escape other robots, but they may actually be bad? It's not super clear to me. Neato puzzles though!
