Let's Unbox a Google Chromecast and make it do things and stuff with audio and video

I finally got my Google Chromecast and I must say I really like the device. It wasn't exactly what I thought I was in that it only supports a few applications like Netflix and YouTube on iOS (may support more on other platforms) when I thought you could stream any audio or video to the TV. The upside is that since the Chrome cast is doing all the heavy lifting once you tell it what to do from your portable device you can shut down your portable device (or let the battery go dead) and it won't kill your viewing experience. Think of the Google Chromecast as a little computer you're just remotely giving orders to.
Google should probably do a better job of educating people up front that you are not really casting video or streaming video or projecting video to the TV but rather just giving orders from a select few apps to the chrome cast over the network and it's actually responsible for everything going on.
So this is not a replacement for Apple TV or other wireless streaming solution if you need your phone, computer or tablet to project its screen on the TV but rather this is good for people that just want to use Netflix and YouTube (and possibly some other supported apps) and want a very seamless, simple experience that just works. My wife personally loves the device because she watches Netflix and YouTube on her iPad all the time and now can just press a single button and transfer it to the larger screen.
