Level 1 (Second Quest) Complete Walkthrough - The Legend of Zelda Second Quest 100% Walkthrough
10This video shows how to complete the 1st dungeon of the Second Quest. That means going into every single room & getting everything this dungeon has to offer; no matter how pointless it may be. If you only want to see what is necessary to beat the level while getting the important items then watch the video linked down below.
Having the Bombs will be necessary to beat this dungeon, but you'll get some as you complete this Level. Having the Blue Ring, Magical Shield, & Food can all be useful here, however none are necessary. Additionally having a 2nd Potion can also help, however, it's a bit more difficult to get your hands on it this early in the Second Quest. Regardless, if you'd like to see how to get any of these things, there are videos showing how linked near the bottom of the description.
In room above the starting room there are 2 statues that shoot balls at you. If you stand directly underneath the left one then the right one can't hit you. Additionally if you stand directly between them or next to the left one then you don't get shot at. Standing next to the right one (in between) will cause the left one to shoot, however.
Important things in this dungeon:
Boomerang (0:00): From the starting room, go right 1 screen to find a bunch of Red Goriya. Kill them all to get the Boomerang. Using Food to distract them is helpful.
Compass (0:46): Kill the Stalfos in the room north 2 screens from the starting screen to get the Compass.
Map (2:16): Kill the Dodongo & go south 1 screen to find the Map.
Boss Aquamentus (4:00): Aquamentus has only 1 attack which consists of him shooting 3 energy balls at you. These balls can be blocked, but only if you have a Magical Shield. If you don't have the Magical Shield then you can always just dodge them.
There are multiple ways you can damage Aquamentus. You can use your sword or bombs. 2 bombs will kill him or 6 hits with the normal sword will kill him (alternatively 6 hits to any part of his body with your sword beam will kill him). Just keep wailing on him while dodging his attacks until he's dead.
