WARNING: SAD.
Now go watch the video first before reading this because I don't know what I'm going to ramble on about but in case it has any spoilers I'd rather you not have those and instead experience this game properly. Hell, maybe even go buy the game and see where you choices take you.
Okay now that that is out of the way and hopefully I am not down beneath the extension thingy so that people have to go out of their way to read the rest...
I honestly don't know what to say. I'll admit it, I cried, and later we went out for a walk and saw one of Jordan's friends and he gave me a funny look and then I realized it's probably because my eyes were all puffy and whatnot. Well, maybe not puffy but the other obvious tells of having been crying and then it made me want to say "No Jordan and I weren't having a fight, I just played a really sad game and got a bit too emotional and has like ten sads now!" But honestly, I'm not too sure. Like, it kind of went the same way Mass Effect 3 did with the whole "you made a million choices during the game but now only this one choice matters" but it did it way better as an emotional thing and also I'm assuming quite different endings.
Oh, do you know what Quantum Immortality is? If so, read on. If not, look it up quick- pretty interesting concept. So, I think Chloe is maybe the epitome of the opposite, or Quantum Death which yes is probably a thing I'm making up but it suits the situation. Look at everything we go through- the universe does not want Chloe Price to live any longer and is doing its damn best to try and end her. All of the eco phenomenon coincide with Chloe living or not. I had this theory forming at about the end of the third episode and the fourth really helped it, but the problem was that in the alternate timeline the eco events had still happened and the tornado seemed to be present in all timelines. Which I now realize didn't actually refute my case, if anything it strengthened it, with the other timeline still trying to spit Chloe out but she was still alive there too.
Which makes me wonder- is choosing to save Chloe a fruitless choice? Or after the week is up, does the universe stop trying to get rid of Chloe and we successfully navigate away from a timeline where she has to die? Spoilers for Steins;Gate, but maybe it's similar with how he had to get away from the timelines where Tuturu girl kept dying and they needed a drastic push to do so?
Honestly, I don't know, but this game definitely deserves a replay. Just make sure you have a tissue box and comfort food with you when you do.
