LIFE IS STRANGE | Episode 5: Polarized, Part 4
See, if Max truly believes that she will be able to find the best timeline, one where everyone lives and the tornado actually happens- why is she so set on making sure everyone is okay in this one? Does she realize the other timelines still exist without this her? It's also so strange, so curious how Max gets lost in time when she skips forward again, all the memories she would have made in the intervening days now gone. So many Max's, spread across so many timelines, constantly hopping and changing and making different decisions. Also, wouldn't she be able to maybe go back in time with one photograph, and then use another photograph found in that scene to "skip" back even further? Her journal would not be burnt at the part where she went back to Chloe. Also, how does not submitting her "Everyday Heroes" photo cause that timeline to not have Mr Jefferson get actually arrested? What was missing? Or was it that she went farther back, when she ripped up the photo, and it was a different timeline entirely, back on one where she wouldn't have known anything?
It's all so confusing and I really want to take a big sheet of paper and write it all down, figure out where each piece plugs into each other. I just want to know and understand.
I'm also incredibly curious now. You guys won't have seen it yet I'm pretty sure if I remember where this episode starts and finish, but things happen that reference specific choices in my play through. So I'm really curious what people saw who didn't make those same decisions. I might have to watch every let's play ever of this game after I am done mine. Or I could just replay it a million times until finally I feel like I understand. But maybe, replaying it over and over again, trying to get the best ending with the best outcomes- maybe that's what the developers are trying to do? Make you feel like Max. Like it's all futile but you have this power, you have to be able to use it, there has to be a way that this all turns out well but can you reach it? How many times will you try, how many times will you rewind time to get it right, how many times will you watch someone die just to try and succeed, despite not even knowing if there is an outcome where they might survive?
That's another hard question too. If you had the ability to save someone, are you morally obligated to you? Despite the expense of your sanity and whatever future issues may occur with what you change?
