I would hate to be in Samuel's shoes right about now.
He's literally on an inescapable raft with a bunch of people who don't trust him. "Damn Synthetics" they say, no doubt they would say he falls under the same category as the working Joes.
But does he?
With the working Joes, and even the people at Seegson admit this, they are pretty basic. Basic template, basic programming, "Do this, if can't then do this" mentality. Unable to listen to rationale or do anything contrary to their programming. Unable to have independent thought. "Why not ask me about Sevastopol's safety protocols?" Two modes, friendly or hostile.
And then there is Samuels. You can undoubtedly say he is leaps and bounds ahead of the working Joes in his existence. Should he even qualify as being "just a synthetic", the same as the working Joes? He has his own AI, seems to be capable of independent thought as well as able to choices that may seem contrary to inorganic programming, but is actually more helpful in the end. I don't know where exactly I'm going with this, but I hope that the Marshall or anyone there doesn't discover Samuels is a synthetic and decide to do away with him in the same way as the working Joes, I hope they can see he is different.
Also, fun fact of the day: a female-bodied android is actually called a gynoid, and android is supposed to refer to make versions. I don't actually know how to pronounce gynoid now, come to think of it. Yay, another word I can sound funny with when trying to say.
