*UPDATE* the blackscreen issue seems not to be SMT related, but it seems to be rather a problem of the media foundation workaround or media foundation itself to run on more than 16 cpu threads. This is my latest info on it.

The blackscreen issue is solved, thanks to a genius reddit user, who got a gold medal for this. :)
Obviously there is a new thing to keep in mind, especially affecting Ryzen users. SMT as in the threading of the cores does interfere with the media foundation libs. I had this issue before, not with mf, but disabling SMT makes Empyrion: Galactic Survival playable, while with it enabled the game's performance is subpar.

tl;dr install guide:
- download epic games store launcher from lutris
- download mf-install and install it to the prefix (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install)
- optional: you can link the Mechwarrior.exe directly, circumventing the epic games launcher after you downloaded it (its under c:\program files)
- *UPDATE* launch the game with taskset -c 0-15 , if you got more than 16 cpu threads. Otherwise you dont need the launch command

Performance is still not optimal but playable. A solid 40 - 50 fps, yet at times camera movement is a bit edgy.
