16Monolitchic kernels are inferior. Even Microsoft's Windows NT kernel is a hybrid kernel.
GNU's Hurd should have been the kernel that we use on the GNU operating system not Linux. Unfortunately Linux finished development sooner and became popular first and the interest in Hurd decreased.
The same microkernel that Hurd uses which is Mach is also used by Apple's Mac OS.
