Playing windows games on linux using wine :
Warframe ( Steam edition )

Warframe is a free to play sci-fi coop third person shooter.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/230410/

The game is based on coop missions of various type ( survival, defense, sabotage, spy, recovery, interception, rescue, assassination ... ) on severals planets.

Levels are procedurally generated giving the game a good replayability.

Players are able to run; slide, walk and jump on walls ...

Playonlinux users :
As of writing, there's some work done on an automatic warframe installer for playonlinux :
https://www.playonlinux.com/en/app-2382-Warframe.html

~~ Installation troubleshoot ~~
1- Installation
Install the game through steam
2- Making the launcher work :
Rename the file Launcher.exe.tmp in Launcher.exe
cd path_to_Steam/steamapps/common/Warframe/Tools/
mv Launcher.exe.tmp Launcher.exe
3- The launcher will check the data files for a VERY LONG time
The launcher is not crashed, just let this process finish (took me 30 min, you can check for yourself with tools like iotop : the launcher is using the hardrive to read and write a lot)
4- If directx doesn't install correctly :
Try to move xinput files in the system32 folder
cd path_to_wine_drive_c_folder/windows/system32/
mv xinput1*.dll ~
Launch the game again (this time, directx should install just fine)
Close the launcher and
mv ~/xinput1*.dll .

~~ Fixing Launcher crashing in loop ~~
1- Launch Steam (but don't launch the game for now)
2- Move away xinput librairies (so directx update doesn't crash during launcher update)
cd path_to_wine_drive_c_folder/windows/system32/
mv xinput*.dll ~
(don't forget to move back in those librairies after launcher update mv ~/xinput*.dll path_to_wine_drive_c_folder/windows/system32/ )
3- Run the launcher manually
cd path_to_warframe
wine Tools\Launcher.exe
(the game will probably ask you to locate the game installation path : select it c:\_path_to_steam_\SteamApps\Common\Warframe)
The launcher will download fine, update directx and finally check files (which is a long process, took more than 30 min here)
4- Don't forget to move back in the xinput librairies in the windows\system32 folder
mv ~/xinput*.dll path_to_wine_drive_c_folder/windows/system32/

~~ Fixing recent freezes ~~
A recent game update broke something and now you'll get HUGE in game freezes.
The only way to fix this is by using wine-staging : http://www.wine-staging.com
(wine-staging 1.7.44)
There's only one remaining bug now : some black textures here and there.

OS : Archlinux rolling release ( http://www.archlinux.org )
Wine : Wine 1.7.34 ( https://www.winehq.org )
Capture : SimpleScreenRecorder 0.3.0 ( http://www.maartenbaert.be/simplescreenrecorder/ )
