Every ten years or so, the videogame industry decides that everything is a live service. It is very easy to do napkin math that shows why this time will be different and money will come pouring in. When we do napkin math on things we don't understand, we can make fundamentally flawed assumptions. This is especially true of things where player counts and costs have exponential (rather then linear) curves.
