So here it is, my Game of the Year, Persona 4. Yes technically it was released last year, but I didn't get around to it until 2009. My site, my rules. If you want to hear my reasons for choosing those games then continue reading. Persona 4 was picked because of how much of a refined game it is. It was solid all around and had perhaps the best character development I have ever experienced. I genuinely cared for the cast and their world. The game just left one hell of an impression on me, ala Yakuza and FF7.

Dragon Age Origins was packed full of content and replay ability. It delivered everything I was hoping for. I just didn't like some AI controls and day one DLC.

I just couldn't ignore Uncharted 2. It's a great adventure game and you don't get those that often anymore. Also the visuals and audio are among the my top three ever.

Modern Warfare 2, second verse same as the first, it was runner up in 2007. Solid campaign and multiplayer. I really, truly, enjoy the whole glitch debacle.

Batman: Arkham Asylum combines the greatness of metroidvania and the Batman mythos. I liked that it was the gritty dirty Batman world.

Now I usually don't like Resident Evil games. What kept me in RE5 was the replay ability and the best split screen co-op I have ever played.

Shadow Complex was another great solid metroidvania game. It just feels refreshing to play something so basic and solid, yet polished. Way of the

Samurai 3 was my Yakuza-like game for the year. I just loved the freedom and feel of the world. Being able to kill everyone is a huge plus.

GhostBusters was just a entertaining little game to play. The writing was great and the game just made me really feel like a GhostBuster.

Now out of all the sandbox games I played this year, GTAIV Stories, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Infamous, Assassin's Creed 2, Saboteur, and Godfather 2, it was Prototype that I enjoyed the most. I feel like it's story was the most original and the gameplay was the most fluid, visceral, and fun.

Notable games I didn't play this year: Left for Dead 2, Lego RockBand, Demon's Souls, Afrika, and Dragon Ball Raging Blast. Games I'm looking forward to in 2010, in order most to least: Heavy Rain, Just Cause 2, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Final Fantasy 13, Dead Rising 2, Army of Two: The 40th Day, and Two Worlds 2.
