This is the longplay of the game Sonic The Hedgehog, released for Mega Drive in 1991 in Japan, the United States and Europe.

The game follows the story of the anthropomorphic hedgehog named Sonic in his quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, a scientist who imprisoned animals in robots and stole the magical Emeralds of Chaos. The gameplay of Sonic the Hedgehog involves collecting rings as a way to gain lives and a simple control scheme, with jumps and attacks controlled by a single button.

It is a 2D platform game whose gameplay focuses on Sonic's ability to run at high speeds through levels that incorporate springs, slopes, high falls, and vertical loops. The levels also have dangers in the form of robots ("badniks" in Western manuals) within which Dr. Robotnik imprisoned animals. The rings in addition to granting lives to every 100 collected, are also like the life of the character, but if it is reached loses all and has to run behind to recover the rings and if it is reached without having rings loses a life. To help our hero, there are monitors that can be destroyed to get rings, extra lives and shields. Sonic became the mascot of SEGA and was a big rival of Mario in the time of the 16 bits, when there was a fierce dispute between Super Nintendo and Mega Drive.

The entire video was made by collecting all the Chaos Emeralds (to get them just complete the phase with more than 50 rings, so you'll find a giant ring just above the board and you can jump on it to go to a spin bonus stage where you you need to get the emerald to the center of it). Only by getting the six Chaos Emeralds will you have the true end of the game, as they will be used to restore the destruction done by Eggman. Sonic The Hedgehog is an incredible game that boosted the sales of Mega Drive and brought one of the biggest mascots in game history.
