Lords of the Fallen (2014) is a failed Souls-like game with some of the clunkiest gameplay you will ever experience. I've actually completed this game three or four times as well as the Ancient Labyrinth DLC a few times, just because I'm a masochist I guess.

Harkyn is a criminal who has been branded with his sins via tattoos on his face. Harkyn. We play as Harkyn in a fantasy world where the evil God Adyr has already been defeated by three previous heroes, who are now known as Judges. Remnants of Adyr still remain in the form of the Rhogar, an evil demonic race which wants to destroy all of humanity. Harkyn must choose whether he will save humanity, or damn them in his journey to defeat all the Lords.

Lords of the Fallen is a painful experience start to finish. The game gets particularly bad towards the end however, you will be extremely frustrated with the final unique area of the game where the Annihilator is located. The DLC is some of the worst paid content I've ever experienced, essentially requiring a video guide to get through. The core gameplay is absolutely horrendous, and the most powerful strategy (wearing heavy armor with max defense at all times) is extremely lame and unenjoyable, but if you don't choose heavy then you will have an even more miserable experience as rolling and stealth is a joke in this game.

Lords does have some merits, but not many. I found the equipment to be extremely cool looking, and I particularly liked the animations of the game. The story and primary game route is much easier to follow than a Dark Souls game, which most players will probably appreciate. While the game is an utter failure, I commend the attempt and the idea here is not necessarily bad, Souls veterans like myself are always looking for alternative games to try out so we don't really care if they're generic or copy catting.

Lords of the Fallen 2014 is a very clunky, unintuitive game. The latter half of the game is remarkably terrible and retreads the same areas over and over, the only unique area being the worst area in the entire game and making some of the worst Souls areas look like gems in comparison.
