No one told Swanke that destiny smells like rot. But then again, no one ever tells him anything.

The Forsaken Fen was not a place for the hopeful — it was where ambition came to drown. Sluggish waters choked with the bones of a forgotten civilization, twisted roots reaching like skeletal fingers, and air so thick with decay it clung to the skin. And in the middle of it all: Swanke, barefoot, barrel-fisted, and grumbling.

He trudged through the muck like a man in search of meaning — or maybe just firmer ground. His newly gained strength allowed him to finally wield the Taxidermist’s Hammer, a weapon so hideous and impractical that only fate could have chosen it for him. Naturally, Swanke was thrilled. Or deeply confused. Possibly both.

First came Mendacious Visage, a being of lies, masks, and cruelty. Swanke didn’t trust it — mostly because it reminded him of a mirror. But after several unfortunate barrel-based strategies and one surprisingly effective tumble into mud, the thing was no more.

Then came The Hushed Saint — a solemn giant on a loyal beast, moving with grace and pain. Swanke, in contrast, moved like a sack of angry potatoes. But what he lacked in form, he made up for in persistence. The hammer fell. Silence remained.

Now, with the swamp behind him and his cursed hammer in hand, Swanke stands at the edge of something darker still. He doesn’t know what lies ahead. He never does. But the ground is solid, and that’s enough.
