Stray shafts of Umbral light barely cut through the chasm, and suspended walkways clung to hollowed walls like skeletal remains.

Every step echoed in the hollow void. The walls dripped with rancid moisture; fungal motes hovered like lost stars in the pitch. More than once, Swanke almost plummeted into the unseen maw below. The abyss tested him long before he ever faced its guardian. At the bottom, he met Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight. She was both judge and jailer—armored in austerity, sword raised in bitter obligation. But she was not alone. Within the sanctum of shadows stood The Unbroken Promise, a colossal, spectral colossus formed by shattered vows and lingering faith.
