7Lufia is so content to be just average that it kinda makes the game great. As one reviewer put it, "It looks like something someone just threw together in RPG Maker." lol, indeed, Lufia & the Fortress of Doom isn't the most profound thing in the RPG genre but as SNES Drunk might put it, "It's a perfectly OK game." And one thing that can't be denied is the epicness of this prologue theme. The first time I played this, this immediately gripped me and even after the fairly routine quest was over, this music still stuck with me and I knew I had to someday remake it to hopefully give it the treatment it rightfully deserves.
JRPG's of the 90's and melodrama go together like PB&J but if you're a fan of them, I don't see how this can't get your blood pumping. As better as the Final Fantasy's and Chrono Trigger may be than this game, this music is the epitome of the "against all odds, we gotta hold on" classic JRPG vibe. This is one thing Lufia did not go mediocre on.
