Luigi won a bright and shiny new mansion! But when he gets there it doesn't quite look like it had been advertised. After a finding the door to the parlor locked Luigi sees an apparition drop the key and upon entering the parlor is attacked by a ghost. Luckily, he is saved by the vacuum wielding, eccentric inventor Professor E. Gadd who takes Luigi back to his lab and tells the plumber that the mansion only appeared a few days prior after his portrait ghosts were released and that Mario had wandered in and never came out. Professor E. Gadd arms Luigi with the Poltergust 3000, teaches him how to use it, and sends him to the mansion to retrieve the escaped portrait ghosts and save his older brother.
I truly have no idea what is happening to Luigi's face in the very beginning, luckily this was the only time during the playthrough that this happened.
