One of the game's more challenging stages. Oddly enough this is one of the rare cases where the first half is harder than the second half. The Industrial Block's gimmicks are the flame canisters, the moving platforms and the landmines.
The flame canisters seem a lot more annoying than they really are to be honest. The only real place where they trip you up if in the one bottleneck with the overhead spikes. You should be thankful they didn't put them in the spot that can only be described as the Spikey Elevator room.
That room is the run killer in this mission. Not the second half and not Brigade. The minefield is another run killer but you don't need to enter that area on hard mode. Any section that is narrow, vertical and spikey is hard to navigate with Copen. He excels at aerial horizontal movement so your precision is really tested when trying to move straight upwards. You have to dash diagonally very slightly and then turn him around on each one so it looks like you move in a zig zag. It's surprisingly execution heavy because when you press the dash button, he MOVES.
The second half is difficult if you try to tentatively deal with the landmines. But the more you route this stage, the more you realize there is no speed limit and it's actually better if you go faster. In that regard, this stage might have the most fun second half in the game since there's no enemies or hazards that serve as a "brake". Landmines blowing up behind you as you blitz through adds a lot more to the feeling of speed than you'd think, too.
By the way, Rolling Ripper(the Boomerang) disarms the landmines if you're too scared to put the pedal to the metal. More reasons for it to be top tier? Can't disagree. They really wanted to make the EX Weapons have lots of uses and I'm not complaining.
Brigade in this fight could be the easiest boss in the game. While he's inside his tank, he has a sequential cycle pattern and the only time he might break the sequence of attacks is in between lifebars. Optic Barrier negates the cluster bomb drops and the Chopper can be used to easily evade the Gatling guns. On Normal mode, you can even use the Chopper to parry the Judgement Blade. Wow! Such interactions! I love that.
When he hops out the tank he's a bit more tricky, but he only has 2 attacks. Just find the rhythm and stay calm. He is easy, yes, but he is not unfun. An easy boss is kinda welcome sometimes because routing whole stages and killing a boss with no damage is actually really stressful.
In any case, you fight Brigade again at the end of a mini boss rush mission and he's got more saucy tricks there including a hella fast quick draw pistol and a flying kick that can rob you.
This run was okay, I guess. I think I missed 3 shots and those were all in the first half. I am mostly unhappy with the amount of movement errors. I also didn't push Brigade's HP to 1% before killing him because there's an annoying glitch(?) in his boss practice mission where you get Aerial-1s and no Shredded score bonus if killing at 1%, so I was legit scared of this and finished him off sooner.
Fun stage all round. Second half is fire.
