After six months of development, the launch of the new version of LXQt 1.0 developed by the entire LXDE development team and Razor-Qt projects. Initially, the release of 1.0 was meant to coincide with the implementation of support for Wayland, y then to provide support for Qt 6, but in the end they decided not to be tied to anything and formed the release 1.0.0 instead of 0.18 for no particular reason, as a sign of the project's stability.
The LXQt interface continues to follow the classic desktop organization, providing a modern appearance to enhance the user experience. LXQt is positioned as a lightweight, modular, fast and convenient continuation of the development of the Razor-qt and LXDE desktop computers, incorporating the best features of both cases.
Main new features of LXQt 1.0.0
LXQt version 1.0.0 not yet adapted for Qt 6 and requires Qt 5.15 to work (Official updates for this branch are released only under a commercial license and unofficial free updates are generated by the KDE project). Wayland is not officially supported yet, but there have been successful attempts to run LXQt components using the Mutter and XWayland composite server.
In LXQt Panel, it is implemented a new plugin "Custom Command", which allows executing arbitrary commands and display the result of your work on the dashboard. The main menu offers the ability to drag and drop search results. Improved handling of icons showing system status (status notifier).
PCManFM implements support for "logos", which can be linked via context menu to arbitrary files or directories. In the dialog for working with files, options have been added to pin an item to the desktop and show hidden files, the ability to recursively apply customization settings to directories was implemented, and there was also a improved implementation of smooth mouse wheel scrolling, Besides that Added buttons to mount, unmount and eject a drive to the context menu from the element "computer: ///".
It is also highlighted that options added to image viewer to control menu and toolbar display, put deleted files in the 'trash', change thumbnail resolution, change the position of the thumbnail panel and disable anti-aliasing when scaling and added the ability to rename images instead without opening thumbnails. separate dialogue. Added command line option to run in full screen mode.
Of what other changes that stand out:
Do not disturb mode has been added to the notification display system.
In the LXQt appearance configuration interface, the ability to write and read the Qt palette is implemented.
A new "Other Settings" page has been added to the configurator, containing several sub-settings that do not fit into the existing categories.
A switch has been added to the power management indicator to temporarily suspend the system activity check (to prevent power saving modes from activating when the system is idle) for a period of 30 minutes to 4 hours.
The terminal emulator provides quotation marks for the names of inserted files transferred by the mouse in drag-and-drop mode. Fixed issues with menu display when using Wayland protocol.
Added two new skins and fixed issues with previously suggested themes.
