Mabinogi | Good Evening USA (Part 2)
0Aaaand we're back! For those that made it here from my accidental false start (see the link below,) thanks for your patience. For those that are coming to this VOD fresh, allow me to explain: the beginning and introduction for this VOD got cut off and are in a separate video. I had to toss up my BRB scene and reboot the stream after realizing I'd forgotten to run Streamlabs in administrator mode, which is mandatory for playing Mabi on my computer for some reason. Even though there isn't much in the previous 11-minute VOD, it's where I explain why we're doing Mabi for the 4th, so check that out if you're curious and/or want to see a catboy suffer.
The VOD in front of you now is the main one with all the fun, so you're in the right place. Welcome to three hours (you read that right!) of absurdly over-the-top "patriotic" fun! Sagi and I are not the kinds of people that perform traditional deep reverence for America's birthday, so we do our best to make it clear that we're being tongue-in-cheek with all the stereotypical stars and stripes insanity. July 4th is just another fun holiday to add quirky items for when you're a game made by non-US developers, so we are here for the ride. Disrespect is not the goal, but please don't expect the Star-Spangled Banner. It's a big world out there, of which we are but one part of a whole.
Since it's July 4th, we thought we should celebrate by engaging in our country's ancient pastime of westward expansion and exploration by doing... commerce! This system is one of Mabi's most interesting and most chill gameplay options, so expect a lot of driving around from one end of Erinn to the other via horse cart and elephant back while we goof off and chat. We borrowed our FFXIV FC's voice chat in case other people wanted to join us, so you'll get a brief cameo from a wandering Bopscop! (Sadly Sol's work schedule kept him from joining.)
Since we were still having fun at the usual two-hour end mark (and had nowhere else to be) we decided to keep going and do some shadow missions too. Come watch me try to fill Sol's usual shoes as the most powerful person in the party! Sometimes it's hard to tell how much I'm contributing to the stuff we do since we have a many-year veteran around, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the results of our labors paying off. Maybe there's hope for me yet in this wild and crazy and wonderful little game... as long as I don't touch magic. Fireball gets me killed. Always.
