Macaroon Nests - Livestream 9 #cookalongabarry
616Welcome to our ninth livestream cookalong. Join Mrs Barry, Phoebe, Chloe & Barry as we make some eggsellent macaroon nests! Much easier than macarons, but just as tasty!
Recipe:
180g desiccated coconut | 180ml sweetened condensed milk | 1tsp orange extract | 1 large egg (white only) | 100g milk chocolate | 60g egg shaped chocolates
Pre-heat oven to 170c/350f/Gas 4 & line a baking tray with parchment or a silpat. In a bowl stick the coconut, condensed milk and orange extract together and mix well together until evenly merged. Put the egg white in a bowl, whisking until stiff peaks form. Gradually fold the egg white mixture into the other mixture until all combined.
Grab small handfuls of the mixture and stick on the lined tray in ball shapes. Press down lightly on the ball shape for an area that the eggs will sit in later. Bake for 18minutes or until just lightly browned, then allow to cool.
Meanwhile you can melt the chocolate in 20 second blasts in the microwave, and coat the bottoms, tops, or the whole of the nests! Use a little melted chocolate as glue for the eggs to grip to the nests as the chocolate sets.
