Machi Frees Yuki (Season 2 Episode 20 Reaction and Theories) | Fruits Basket Podcast
Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 20 is here and this was a fun one. My fiancée read the manga, I'm an anime-only viewer, and we LOVE talking about Fruits Basket. With Season 2 finally being here we decided that we want to share our conversations with you! Join us every week as we theorize, react to, and review each episode!
This time we start with Yuki having a flashback to when Tohru was Holding Rin as he realized they yearn for the same thing. In the episode we learn about Yuki, Tohru, and Kyo's class putting on a performance of 'Cinderella' for the culture festival which has some very unique casting choices with Hanajima being Cinderella opposite Kyo as the prince while Tohru is relegated to an evil stepsister. The main focus of the episode though is on Yuki and the rest of the Student Council. Machi seems to have a breakdown where she destroys the student council room. Kakeru stays to calm her down. After this we learn that Kakeru and Machi are siblings and get insight into their family situation. Yuki later gets locked in a dark closet and has visceral flashbacks to his experiences with Akito until Machi frees him not only from the closet but also his mind. This was such a delightful episode and I can't wait for next week! But for now, join us in our journey through Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 20.
