Greetings, everyone.

Today I bring you my controls comparison video for Mad Max, as said I was going to, because I usually like comparing how a game handles with both control options, that being gamepad and keyboard and mouse, since I’m a PC gamer who likes having the ability to choose.

So starting with the gamepad, we can see it’s the standard control scheme for these types of games, for the most part, with two control schemes available but with a very limited variation between the two of them, and that’s a bit disappointing. Especially the “Fire Weapon” button is not in the best possible location on the alternate control scheme, because when using our car we need to keep pressing the right trigger, to accelerate, and then also press, with the same finger I guess, the firing button, which is not optimal. I can do it but the default control scheme feels more natural, it’s as simple as that and there’s not much else to say about it.

Combat is pretty simple in this game and the gamepad makes it even simpler, if you’re used to play Batman or Assassins Creed games, this is just as easy or even more, it feels alright with the gamepad.

Now, the keyboard and mouse controls is where it shines, because not only we can rebind almost everything (except maybe the menu prompts to close some menus like the garage and so , which I didn’t find how to rebind, but it’s not so bad) and we can use most of our keyboard and extra mouse buttons as well, which for me, being left handed, is essential on a PC game. I thank Avalanche Studios for this because there’re examples out there of triple A games that have lots of issues with control settings when using extra mouse buttons, or some parts of the keyboard like the numpad area, the arrow keys and everything else around those…which considering 15+ years ago some games already allowed full keyboard rebinding…I find it quite stupid not to give players this choice nowadays.

Thankfully Avalanche knows how to make proper PC ports and it can really be seen here when putting the controls to the test.

All in all, I’m happy with the controls, I play with the keyboard and mouse this time around and it feels great. Gamepad feels good too but if the game has proper K&M controls, I’d rather use those always, but having the choice of both methods is nice, of course.

Hope you guys liked this video, and see you in the next one : )
