[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [20] | Orcish Emancipation | Orsinium | Emperor's Letter
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Remembering what Mynisera told Strangeblood the last time they parted ways, he decided to pay her a visit again, keeping in mind what Morgiah of Wayrest had told him. He informed the Dowager Queen that the letter was, in fact, with Gortwog, the chief of the Orcs. The guards of the palace, on the other hand, were rather cross with him for breaking their rules previously and started attacking him.
In order to lubricate the wheels and get the letter back in its rightful hands, she hands Strangeblood a writ, promising Gortwog sovereignty for Orsinium.
However, when Strangeblood hands the letter to Gortwog, he dismisses it and refuses to help. He also warns Strangeblood that any Orsimer inside the halls of Orsinium will not take kindly to a stranger snooping around.
With that, Strangeblood disappeared into the nothingness by casting a spell of invisibility over himself. And he started searching Orsinium for the Emperor's letter and literally searched high and low until there was nothing more to search. Near the end, when he was verifying the unsearched areas by using his clairvoyance, he finally found himself on the right path and found himself in presence of the letter.
It was at that point that he decided to pick it up, read it, and deliver it back to Mynisera. The contents of the letter were a little strange, talking about some kind of a Totem of Tiber Septim and how it has been unearthed even though it is about to disappear soon. Reading that, Mynisera warns Strangeblood to tread carefully and that he shall inevitably find the Totem in his hands one day soon.
Pondering what it could all mean, Strangeblood sits and meditates on some newly posed questions in his head as he makes his way back to Menevia to complete yet more tasks for the Mages' Guild. Somehow, something about the place still calls for him.
