[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [19] | Capturing Conjurer | The Cursed Weapon | A Flock of Imps
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Upon receiving his promotion in the order of Arkay, Strangeblood realised that his promotion was on unstable footing and that he should perhaps complete another mission for the Order so as to solidify his worth in the eyes of his superiors. With that in mind, he proceeds to ask the Quester for another quest and is happily handled a cursed Orsimer weapon in the form of a Steel Short Bow. This weapon, known as Manshrieker, is capable of great evil. However, the evil is presently contained with the aid of spells. Strangeblood's task, should he choose to accept it is to travel to the Ruins of Greenham Manor and hand it over to Evelyrrya Yeomwing, who will keep it safe there. As was expected, she was found deep in the bowels of the ruins. But all is well that ends well as Strangeblood successfully completed the quest and bolstered his reputation among the Order of Arkay.
Next, to address the Mages' Guild in Menevia. These people had their gears well-oiled and were easy to please. Consequently, they only had a menial task for our beloved Mage wherein a student of their order had tried summoning Imps from Oblivion only to lose control of them. Strangeblood was required to find and slay them all within 13 days. Strangeblood decided to use his boorish charms and luckily, the first person that he came across told him that the Imps had taken residence in the Tower of Mastersly. And so that is where Strangeblood headed.
Once inside the tower, Strangeblood used his brain and instead of going Imp Hunting, he started one of the sacred invitation rituals that he learned form the Order of Arkay to summon all the Imps to him once he had managed to carve out a safe place inside the dungeon. The result was astonishingly successful. All the imps started converging on his position from various parts of the dungeon and soon, he had slain the last one.
He returned to the Mages Guild to find himself promoted to the rank of Conjurer and heralded with the ability to purchase enchanted equipment.
