5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons- Magic Nerdarchy Talks Spell Slinging In D&D 5E
The Nerdarchy crew gathers to talk about magic in 5th edition dungeons and dragons. I know we touched on 5E magic a bit in our wizard video, but we thought it was worthy of it's own video. This is one of my favorite 5th edition discussions so far. I really like love what Wizards of the Coast Has done with magic in this edition of dungeons and dragons. 4th edition D&D did some cool stuff with magic, but the biggest problem was it stopped feeling like a D&D system. Where I believe with 5th it burrowed from every edition of the game to create what is now the D&D magic system. Your spell caster will always feel like a spell caster no matter how many spells you've cast that day.
Some of the innovations to 5E magic- at-will cantrips that scale with level, spells are all front loaded the only way to increase their power is by casting them in a higher spell slot, familiars have gone back to 1e in how they work, armor doesn't disrupt spell casting, ritual casting, and those are some of the things off the top of my head.
Feel free to join the discussion in the comments below. How do you feel about 5th edition dungeons and dragons magic?
