Magus' Castle - Part 1 | Rogue Plays Chrono Trigger (SNES) | 17
After fighting through the magic cave and Rogue's migraine, we have arrived at Magus' Lair. Now we have to fight our way to him to try and save the world.
Note: Yes, I realized I forgot to change the episode counter - AFTER I finished recording. No, it was not worth re-recording in my opinion. It'll get fixed - eventually. Unless I decide to stop including it. Feel free to leave an opinion below.
Released in 1995 on the Super Nintendo/Super Famicom this is Chrono Trigger, a role-playing game with characters designed by the wonderful Akira Toriyama (Dragonball, Dragon Quest) Intended as the first entry in the "Chrono" Series, it would later be remastered and re-released on Playstation 1 in 1999 right before Chrono Cross and then again with the Final Fantasy Chronicles bundle, in 2001. Additional releases include the Nintendo DS, Mobile platforms, and recently the PC. I personally did not experience this game until 2001 when I purchased a copy of Final Fantasy Chronicles - just for this game. While the later versions benefit from fully animated cutscenes, I am choosing the Super Nintendo version of the game for this Let's Play adventure. I absolutely love the music, the setting, everything about this game. It's one of my favorite JRPGs of all time, second only to Final Fantasy 6.
I am first and foremost intending to re-experience some nostalgia with this game and enjoy myself. This is not going to be an example of a flawless run or an expert run. I apologize if that is what you are looking for. Secondly, some viewers may be experiencing this game for the first time - and so I kindly ask you respect that in your comments. Finally, if I miss something non-permanently you can leave a comment and I will try to circle back to it. I make no promises though.
