Maiden Cops - Steam Deck Gameplay
Gameplay footage of Maiden Cops for the PC. Footage here is on the Steam Deck showing how the game runs.
Maiden Cops is a new 2D Beat'em Up with heavy influences from Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Undercover Cops, TMNT Turtles in Time and various others (See if you can spot the homages) that also adds in a bit of lewd stuff (none heavy) However is it actually any good?
Created by Pippin Games and been in development hell for a long time the game is now finally released. Its OK but at present id say its just OK.
At present I'm contemplating on doing a review or not because I feel I might be abit too harsh on the game when I know an update could easily fix all my issues.
Ill separate things into 2 halves.
GOOD
Graphics are extremely nice, Character design is good, Levels homage a lot of past beat'em up games, Animation is good, Music is good.
There's lot of cool outfits for you to unlock as well as a few cheats, character info, music and some other stuff.
BAD
No real 2 player mode. Yes you can use remote play but this means a lot of time setting things up and organising with people. A game such as this really should have a proper 2 player online mode such as SOR4. Its just common sense. Remote Play works but its a lot of hassle to set up and organise.
The other issues are that 2 out of the 3 characters are very slow and sluggish to control and react. One of the girls cannot pick up weapons aside from heavy weapons (why can't the cowgirl pick up a knife or a bat?). If you play in Arcade mode (Hard) enemies just spam you relentlessly, No 3 player mode from what I can see.
There is more I would add but I'm hoping that the Developers can fix a lot of these issues with an update. It would be easy to fix the slow characters, have cowgirl be able to pick up objects, rebalance attacks and make the block and roll move actually useable.
I just wish that the devs had focused more on the game in the first place rather than adding in some of the more lewder fan service stuff which doesn't fix the games main issues.
This could have been another great Beat'em Up like Fight'N Rage yet it feels like it just misses the mark on so many areas.
