Making A Falchion for Skallagrim - Part 2
4,542In this special build episode we continue to make a custom falchion for Skallagrim to review and test. This is part 2 of a series of videos completing this sword project.
Ilya starts by forging the tang of the blade and then finalizes the preform. After that it is time to move on to hand forging the bevels of the blade. The blade is the slightly rough ground to prep for normalizing. The blade is then give 3 normalizing cycles and readied for final rough grind before heat treat.
Ilya then moves on to forging the guard. After the guard is rough shaped on the power hammer ilya punches and drifts the slot and afterwards moves on to finishing the ends of the tines.
The final step in this episode is forging the side rings for the hilt using a custom swage underneath the powerhammer.
