LA, Los Angeles, City of Angels. Or in this case - bridges...
Let me explain...

I originally planned to just create the Griffith Observatory that overlooks the iconic city but once I had done so, it didn't look very interesting, so I then decided to bring more of the background into focus and increase the sense of scale in the shot. To quickly create the illusion of a large, busy metropolis, I took about 100 large bridge assets and rotated them on their sides. My thought process was that the chaotic blend of lines would imitate the roads from a distance. I think it works quite well.

I then took another 100 alternative large bridge assets and flipped them upside down so that their foundations poked upwards to suggest distant buildings.

One of my favourite aspects of art is using bold, almost seemingly ridiculous techniques to fool the eye into initially reading an image as intended. There are so many hidden layers to art and I absolutely love it.

This scene took around 2 hours to build.
